Install the Tax Determination connector for SAP ECC or S/4 HANA for Unix
The following steps describe how to install the Tax Determination connector for SAP ECC, or S/4 HANA for Unix.
- Download the Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer-9.x.x-<OS>.zip package.
The zip file contains the following folders:

Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer/lib

Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer/configuration

- Create a folder for the connector file in your system.
This will be the top-level folder. Example: /gtd.
- Move Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer-9.x.x-<OS>.zip to the top-level folder.
- Unzip Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer-9.x.x-<OS>.zip.
Unix: unzip Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer-linux.zip
- Go to the newly created Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer folder.
cd <top level>/Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer.
- Move the following files for the SAP Java Connector 3.0.21 into the Sovos S4Hana-JcoServer/lib folder:
Unix: sapjco3.jar; libsapjco3.so
- Go to the Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer/configuration folder.
cd <top level>/Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer/configuration
- Edit the adapter.ini file to update the connector configurations according to the Configure the adapter.ini file section.
Unix: vi adapter.ini.
- Edit the log4j2.properties file configurations detailed in Encrypt passwords for the adapter.ini file on Linux.
- Go to the Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer folder.
cd <top level>/Sovos-S4Hana-JcoServer
- Run the setupJcoServer executable file.
Unix: ./setupJcoserver.shTip:
You may need to add the correct permissions to run the script. Use the chmod command.
- setupJcoServer.sh will prompt for the Java installation folder. Enter the full path name to the location of the Java JDK 1.8 mentioned in the Pre-installation instructions: /<path>/jdk1.8.0_60
Include the forward slash ("/") before <path>. Do not end the line with a slash or /bin.
- Start the JCo Server by executing the runJcoServer script:
Unix: ./runJcoServer.shTip:
You can run the server in the background with the nohup./runJcoServer.sh & command.
