Encrypt passwords for the adapter.ini file on Linux

The following steps describe how to encrypt passwords for the adapter.ini file on Linux to connect SAP with Tax Determination.

  1. Open the Linux Sovos ECC and S/4Hana JCo Server kit.
  2. Go to the <sovos_kit_base>/crypto/configuration folder and enter the information for the following adapter.ini parameters:
    • encrypted_connection_password, true/false

    • encrypted_destination_password, true/false

  3. Go to the <sovos_kit_base>/crypto folder.
  4. Open the runJcoCrypto.sh script.
  5. Update the location for <java_home> and save.
  6. Run the runJcoCrypto.sh script and copy the encrypted passwords.
  7. Go to <sovos_kit_base>/configuration.
  8. Update the adapter.ini file with the encrypted passwords.
  9. Update the adapter.ini file with the appropriate values for:
    • encrypted_connection_password

    • encrypted_destination_password

  10. Perform a full calculation request in the Sovos JCo Server application to test that the encryption or decryption was successful.
    CAUTION:

    Delete <sovos_kit_base>/crypto for security reasons.

    Tip:

    You can store encrypted and plain text passwords in the adapter.ini file.
