Manage VAT groups

A VAT group is a collection of companies that consolidate their VAT registrations so that they can file VAT returns as a single entity.

Grouping VAT registrations streamlines the submission process and simplifies the management of VAT obligations across multiple registrations.

Create a VAT group

Learn how to create a VAT group for your VAT Filing account.

Note:

Because the settings for companies and VAT groups are unique to each parent or child account, you can't create VAT groups that span across companies from different accounts.

  1. Go to Settings > VAT Groups.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter the following on the new page:
    VAT Group Name
Choose a VAT group name that's easy to identify, intuitive, and not too long.
    VAT Group primary tax ID
The tax ID or VAT registration number of the registered company set as primary in the VAT group.
    Country
The country selected for the primary company.
  4. Select at least one other company from the list. Then, click Save.
    Note:

You'll only see companies operating in the same country as the primary company and eligible to be in this VAT group.

Edit a VAT group

Learn how to add or remove companies from a VAT group in VAT Filing.

  1. Go to Settings > VAT Groups.
  2. Select a row from the list.
  3. Select or deselect companies on the new page, leaving at least one company in the list. Then, click Update.

Copy a VAT group

When you copy an existing VAT group you duplicate it, including its associated companies. This lets you create a group based on another one, but with different companies.

  1. Go to Settings > VAT Groups.
  2. Click the More options icon from a row. Then, select Copy.

Delete a VAT group

Learn how to delete a VAT group in VAT Filing.

  2. Select one or more VAT Groups, or select all VAT Groups using the checkbox at the top.
    Note:

You can also delete a single VAT Group by selecting the three-dot icon on the right.

  3. Click the Delete rows icon. Then, click the Delete button to confirm.
