Glossary
Sovos Intelligence Glossary.
Definitions
- Source group
- A grouping of related data models (tables) by origin. For example VAT Filing, SAF-T, Compliance Network, or Intelligence. See Data.
- Connector
- A link between Sovos Intelligence and a Sovos product that delivers validated, regulatory-grade data directly into the platform. See Connectors.
- Company scope / row-level security (RLS)
- The set of companies your user account is scoped to. Every action is limited to those companies by row-level security, regardless of role.
- Data object
-
Data objects are the total count of discrete data records submitted. This includes:
-
Header records.
-
Master-file entries, such as customers, suppliers, general ledger accounts, and tax codes.
-
Transactional documents, such as invoices, payments, and journal entries.
-
Source-document references.
Each of these counts as an individual element or database record representing a distinct business event or entity definition. Data objects are the unit used for the data-volume limit that applies to your license. See License types.
-
- Semantic model
- A modeled representation of data (with defined aliases) that a query or report is built on. Output aliases in a query must differ from raw source column names.
- Report Semantic Models
- Semantic models generated from saved reports, available as a data source group in the query builder.
- Cross-source reconciliation
- Comparing two data sets from different sources to identify matched and unmatched records. See Reconciliation.
- Cross-check report
- A reconciliation report built from a cross-check query that compares two queries through match conditions.
- Basic-table report
- A report from a single-source query. Basic-table reports have no per-row statuses and no Overview panel. Their row menu offers Comments only.
- Match condition
-
A
column = columncomparison, referencing each query's output aliases, that defines when two records reconcile. See Query and reconciliation reference. - #[MATCH]
- The marker in a cross-check query that separates the two SELECT statements from the comma-separated list of match conditions. It is used exactly once.
- Within tolerance
-
The behavior of the
withinoperator, which matches values that fall inside a specified tolerance value rather than requiring an exact match. - Known exception
- A reconciliation row status marking a record that does not reconcile but is accepted as a known, allowed difference.
- Unreconciled
- A record in a reconciliation report that has not been matched. The Report Overview shows reconciled versus unreconciled counts per source.
- Manual Match
- An action that pairs selected reconciliation records the engine did not match automatically; the selected records receive a shared Match Id.
- Rule
- An automation that categorizes records in cross-check reports, using either Filter conditions or a SQL rule. See Rules and automation.
- Sovi AI
- The natural-language AI in Sovos Intelligence that answers questions about your tax data and generates SQL, tables, and charts. See Insights.
- Agentic Reporting
- An Enterprise capability that turns a Sovi AI analysis into a saved report you can run again. See Create a report with Agentic Reporting.
- Shareable dashboard
- A dashboard created with the Shareable option enabled so that it can be shared. See Create a dashboard.
- Report template
- A saved report definition that can be run to produce report runs. See Standard report templates.
- Report run
- A single execution of a report template, listed on the template's Reports tab with a status and row count.
- Data Explorer export
- An export of data initiated from the Data grid. It appears in Downloads with the type Data Explorer.
