Manage users

Learn how to manage users and user permissions within your organization.

User management provides centralized control over who can access Compliance Network, what they can do, and which business entities they can manage. Organization-level settings allow you to do the following with users:

  • Add new users.

  • Set user role permissions.

  • Assign company and product groups to users.

About user roles and permissions

When you create or update a user, you can select roles that grant specific permissions. While not customizable, these roles give fine-grained control of what a user can access and do within the Compliance Network portal or the Indirect Tax API.

Organization-level roles

These roles grant permissions within a Compliance Network organization. Partners can assign these roles within their own organization. Direct customers can let the Sovos Professional Services team assign roles for them or ask them to assign the Security role to one of their users, who can then create and assign the remaining roles.
