Register products in Illinois

Learn about the requirements for registering products in Illinois.

Which product types to register

In Illinois, you will need to register:

  • Malt/Beer
  • Spirits
  • Wine

You will need to include the following information for each product you register:

  • Vintage (for wine)
  • Bottle size
  • ABV
  • Bottles per case

How to register your products

  • If you have a new brand, register it as a New Brand.
  • If you have a new COLA under an existing brand, register it as a Line Extension.
  • If you have a variety pack or combo, you don't need to register it separately.
  • If you make changes to a product or label, including changing distributors, register your product as a Revision.
    • New bottle sizes and new vintages (for wine) are considered revisions in Illinois.
    • All products must already be registered with the state.
    • If you are canceling an existing distributor relationship, you must file a Withdrawal of Registration Statement, available here. Multiple distributors can be assigned the same brands in the same territories in Illinois, so you do not need to cancel an existing distributor relationship before creating new ones. Be aware of any contractual obligations with your distributors who might require this.
