Saudi Arabia

Saudi regulations require physical archiving of invoices within the country, while electronic invoices must be stored in their original format, with cloud-stored invoices accessible via direct links for authorities.

Archiving invoices physically inside the country is compulsory under the Saudi regulations.

Taxpayers are required to store all invoices in a structured electronic format and store them in the same format they were issued. For invoices stored on the cloud, a direct link must be provided for the authorities to access all invoice data.

In addition, Sovos recommends storing the SCI and any additional generated documents such as a graphical representation (PDF) as attachments in a local archive.

To store an e-invoice, you need to set the Archiving.DocumentFormat scope to "SADOC" within the SBDH. Additionally, the following metadata should be provided and mapped to the scope parameters of the SBDH while using the Store Invoice process:

Archiving in Saudi Arabia

To comply with the Saudi mandate for archiving invoices, Sovos eArchiving stores Saudi Arabian invoices inside Saudi Arabia by default.
