Manage return forms
Learn about all of the details in how to manage return forms.
After you've added returns to the Filing Calendar, set up workflows, and imported invoices for the appropriate periods, the next step is to create the return forms. This is the document that will be populated with the transactions from your imported invoices and will be submitted to the government.
After the return form has been created, the total VAT amount due for the return will appear on the Returns page at the bottom of the return card when you're viewing the Returns page in Workflow view. The VAT amount will also be displayed in the return details page header.
Create a return form on the return details page
- Go to
- On the Returns page, click a return card when in Workflow view or the return row when in the List view.
- Go to the Return form tab on the return details page and select Create return.

Refresh a return form after importing new invoices
Learn how to refresh a return form manually after uploading new invoices associated with that return.
After you create a return form, you can keep adding or removing transactions. Just make sure that you refresh the return form manually after uploading new invoices associated with that return.
You can't refresh return forms after they've been filed.
- Go to
- Select a return card (Workflow view) or a return row (List view).
- On the return details page, go to the Return form tab.
- Click the More options icon, then select Refresh return form.
After refreshing a return form, you can view previous versions of the return form by clicking the History icon.
Edit a return form
Learn how to edit a return form before the return has been filed.
If you've already created a return form, but haven't filed it yet, you can edit the form before filing. If you do your tax calculations outside of VAT Filing, you may need to manually update data on your return forms or change a single amount on a certain form.
The edited form will be saved as a new version. The latest version of your return form will be displayed on the Returns page, and the latest version will be filed with the government if you use direct filing. You can see previous versions of your return forms in the form history.
Try to avoid making manual edits to return forms because the changes won't be synced with corresponding data stored in your account, and they won't appear on the audit trail.
To see previous versions of your return form after saving your changes, click the History icon.
