Filing

Amend a filed return

If you notice that a return you already filed has missing or incorrect data, you can amend the return and file it again.

  • The return must be in the Complete stage.

  1. On the Returns page, click the return.
  2. Click Amend.
  3. Select how you want to amend the return:
    • If you only want to edit existing return data, select Simple.
    • If you want to edit existing return data and add new data to the return, select Standard.
  4. If you want to use your default payment type and filing type, select Use existing settings from Filing Calendar Preference.
If your payment type or filing type has changed since you filed the original return, you should select this option.
  5. Click Amend.

The amended return is added as a new version so you still have the original return for reference. The return says "Amended" in the name and is in either the Adjust stage if you selected simple amend or the Ready stage if you selected standard amend. You can switch between the amended return and the original return by clicking the version you want to view.

The Overview page of the CO Sheridan Amended Sales and Use Tax Return with Versions section highlighted that shows two versions of the return: Version 1 (original) and Version 2 (amended).

To edit existing return data, follow the steps for editing transactions. To add new data to the return, upload the new transactions through Batch Determination. After you have made your changes to the return, file the return as usual.
