Hold transactions with guidance

Learn how to hold the transactions that Sales Tax Filing has flagged so your return will not have a negative tax amount.

  • Your legal entity must have the Hold transactions with guidance option selected in the settings.

  • Holding transactions reverts all changes made to the Worksheet. If you have edited the Worksheet, make a note of the changes you made so that you can re-edit the Worksheet if necessary.

If your legal entity has Hold transactions with guidance selected, Sales Tax Filing adds a warning icon next to the transactions that would cause a negative total amount on a return but will not automatically put the transactions on hold. You can review these transactions and decide if they should be put on hold.

  1. On the Returns page, click the return.
  2. Click the Return Data tab.
  3. Review the transactions that Sales Tax Filing has flagged for holding.

If you clicked Smart Hold & Release, all transactions with warning icons will be removed from the Return Data tab and placed in the Data On Hold tab. The Data On Hold tab will have an exclamation point icon to remind you that you have transactions on hold.
