File state forms
File tax forms with the states where you have a reporting obligation.
State filing lets you submit information returns to the states that require them. State filings go to the tax department of the state where the recipient resides or where the income was earned and not to the IRS.
Not all states require you to file directly. Some states participate in the Combined Federal/State Filing (CF/SF) Program, where the IRS automatically forwards your federal filing data to the state. For states outside the CF/SF program, you must file directly with the state.
How you file with states depends on the form type:
-
1099-NEC: Direct state filing is an optional paid add-on service that you select at checkout. Not all states are supported. See 1099-NEC state filing add-on service for a list of supported states.
-
1095 ACA: State filing is available at checkout. Select the checkbox in the State Filing Services section to file all eligible forms with all eligible states.
-
CA 592 quarterly and tax exempt interest: eFileMyForms does not file CA 592 quarterly forms electronically. After you place an order, you can download the generated state reporting files and submit them to the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) website.
-
CA 592-B: eFileMyForms does not file CA 592-B forms electronically. After you complete your forms, you can download the generated file and submit it to the CA FTB website.
