How eFileMyForms works
eFileMyForms simplifies tax compliance through a four-step process:
- 1. Data import and entry
- Upload your tax form data through an Excel file import, or manual entry. The system accepts data in standard formats and provides templates to help make sure your data is compatible.
- 2. Data validation and verification
- Our platform automatically validates your data against IRS requirements, checking for common errors, missing information, and formatting issues. The TIN matching service verifies taxpayer identification numbers directly with the IRS to prevent rejected filings and penalties.
- 3. Review and approval
- Review a summary of all forms to be filed, make any necessary corrections, and preview how recipient copies will appear. The system highlights any items requiring attention before submission. The Print and Mail Service mails IRS-approved forms to your recipients. PDF copies are available for download and printing after your order has been paid.
- 4. Filing and distribution
- Choose your delivery method for each form type: electronic filing with the IRS, (and in the case of NEC forms, states), printed copies mailed directly to recipients, or both. eFileMyForms electronically files your returns with the IRS and relevant state agencies (if applicable). Track the status of each filing in real time and receive confirmation when submissions are accepted.
After you file, you receive electronic confirmations for all filings. The system securely stores copies of all forms in your account for future reference and audit purposes. The system maintains a complete filing history, including submission dates, and confirmation numbers.
Compliance checks
While eFileMyForms includes built-in validations to catch common errors, you're responsible for confirming that all reported information is accurate and complete. Always review your forms before submitting.

Key concepts
eDelivery or electronic delivery
The eDelivery service allows you to submit required statements electronically for forms 1095-A, 1095-B, and 1095-C, offering an alternative to traditional paper mailing.
If you're required to submit a written statement to the recipient, you may submit the statement electronically instead of mailing it on paper. This includes submitting the statement to recipients of forms 1095-A, 1095-B, and 1095-C.
If you're importing a 1095-B or 1095-C Excel file, you can include each recipient's e-mail address and eFileMyForms will e-mail them to get their consent to eDelivery. If the recipient consents to eDelivery, the recipient can access their information immediately after you finish the checkout process for the 1095 form.
Recipients can revoke their consent for the next tax year by clicking the Remove consent link in the e-mail sent to them when originally asking for consent. Recipients can revoke consent until they receive the 1095-C form. After the form has been accessed from the website, there's no option for physically mailing the form as IRS requirements are already met.
If the recipient doesn't consent to receiving the statement electronically, a paper copy will automatically be sent to the mailing address on the recipient's tax form.
Combined Federal and State Filing Program (CF/SF)
The Combined Federal and State Filing Program (CF/SF) allows the electronic filing of 1099 forms to participating states through the IRS for approved filers.
As an eFileMyForms customer, you're automatically enrolled in the Combined Federal/State Filing Program (CF/SF) when you file certain 1099 forms with eFileMyForms. Through CF/SF, the IRS will electronically file original information returns to participating states for approved filers.
Important information about the program
-
CF/SF only includes the IRS 1099 series forms. Form W2 is an SSA form and not part of the program, so any required state filing must be done directly with the state and is not part of the eFileMyForms service.
-
The rules for submitting these forms vary by state, with some only requiring them under very specific circumstances. The 1099-K and 1099-OID are part of the CF/SF program but aren't currently supported by eFileMyForms.
-
While the IRS has included the 1099-NEC in the CF/SF program starting with tax year 2021, to ensure accurate and timely filing, eFileMyForms is only supporting direct filing to states that require it.
-
As part of the eFileMyForms Print and Mail Service, a recipient receives a four-part form that has a copy that can be included with their state return. The filer needs to contact the state's tax department or seek advice from a professional to find out if they need to file the W2 directly with the state. If they do need to file with the state, they can print out the PDFs for submission to the state.

State ID number
A state ID number is a unique identifier issued by the state for tax purposes.
A state ID number is issued by the state to your company generally for state tax withholding purposes. To get a state ID number, contact your state's tax department.
If you aren't required by the state to include a state ID number, you can ignore prompts to enter a state ID number.
