Where to report Canadian properties
Report properties with Canadian owner addresses based on the owner's province and your business's physical presence.
- Alberta, New Brunswick, and Quebec
-
Report to these provinces when you indicate physical presence there. Otherwise, report to your business's state of incorporation.
Important:Quebec reporting:
-
To report to Quebec, you need a NEQ (Numéro d'entreprise du Québec) or QEN (Quebec Enterprise Number). This provincial identifier is used for Revenu Québec and provincial agencies like the CNESST. Read about how to add a state assigned ID.
-
After generating your state report, download the excel file, then manually enter your records into Quebec's web portal.
-
- All other Canadian provinces
- Report to your business's state of incorporation.
We're awaiting guidance from British Columbia on their reporting requirements. We'll share updates as more information becomes available.
About physical presence
Having a physical presence means your business operates a physical location (office, warehouse, or facility) in a province. Indicating your physical presence ensures properties are reported to the correct jurisdiction.
A business incorporated in the US can still have reporting obligations in Alberta, New Brunswick, or Quebec if it maintains physical presence there.
Go to the Business Information page to indicate where you have a physical presence.
