TIN and Name matching

We added a setting that lets Sovos turn off IRS TIN and Name matching for your account. When the setting is turned off, TINCheck no longer sends the TIN and the name to the IRS for validation for website, REST API, SME and SOAP API requests. Your account settings show whether IRS TIN and Name matching is active or inactive. If your account isn't set up for IRS TIN and Name matching the option to turn it off and continue using all other TINCheck validations without sending data to the IRS.

Bulk check

We updated bulk check so that the IRS result is hidden when IRS TIN and Name matching is turned off for your account. The IRS option no longer displays in the validation options during upload or in your bulk upload validation preferences, and your results file no longer includes an IRS column. Both the option and the column return when IRS TIN and Name matching is enabled again. This means you can run a bulk check using all other TINCheck validations without accidentally sending data to the IRS.

Login

We updated the message that displays when your company uses IP allowlisting and you log in from a network that is not approved. The message now explains that your account is authenticated but that access from your current network is not permitted, and it asks you to log in from an approved location or contact your administrator.

Account management

We updated what happens to users when an account is cancelled. Administrator, basic, and API users that are active when the account is cancelled now stay active, so an administrator no longer has to reactivate them one by one. When you log in after your account is cancelled, TINCheck prompts you to reactivate the account or buy a new plan. Users whowere already deactivated before the cancellation still can't log in.

Free account sign-up

We added a human verification step to the free account sign-up page. You now confirm you are a person before you can create a free account, which helps block automated sign-ups.
