Mode of transport codes

Mode of transport codes identify the type and ownership of vehicles used to transport goods. Tax Determination uses these codes when applying tax and situs rules.

If you use delivery charges when calculating tax for transactions, you must include mode of transport codes.

  • If you use the same mode of transport code on all transactions, you can set this code as the default on the Tax Preferences page.

  • If the mode of transport code changes depending on the transaction, you must include your organization's mode of transport code on the invoice.
  • The system-level default mode of transport code is 13 (Road transport: Third-party vehicle). If you want to apply invoice-level processing to support the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee, you must change the default to either 03 (Road transport: Client-owned vehicle) or 20 (Road transport: Third-party vehicle delivery).
