Sovos identifies products and services in Tax Determination with Good/Service Codes. Good/Service Codes are also used to match products and services to their appropriate taxability category.  A company's product codes or product categories (SKU numbers, inventory numbers, material numbers) must be mapped to the Good/Service Codes in Tax Determination so the appropriate tax rules and rates can be applied.

Example use case

Use the POST…/goodService/mapping/create request for initial product catalog setup: Map SKU range "SHIRT001" to "SHIRT099" to GSC "2038356" (apparel) for tax calculation.

Use the POST…/goodService/mapping/update request in case of product line expansion: Update existing mapping from SHIRT001-SHIRT099 to SHIRT001-SHIRT150 using oldSkuFrom/oldSkuTo to identify the mapping and skuFrom/skuTo for the new range.
