How can we help?

Exclude data from filing

You can use a data filter to control which states and tax types are reported in Sales Tax Filing.

  • The legal entity must already exist in Sales Tax Filing.

  • You must have one of the following user roles:

    • Admin

    • Team Lead

    • MS User

You can exclude certain states and tax types from returns in Sales Tax Filing. This is useful if you only report some Tax Determination data through Sales Tax Filing and report other data yourself. For example, you may use Tax Determination to calculate meals tax but file your own meals tax returns. In this case, you would add a data filter to exclude meals tax from Sales Tax Filing.

  1. Go to Settings > Legal Entities and click the legal entity you want to add a filter to.
  2. In the Data exclusions section, click Manage.
  3. Select either State Code or Tax Type from the Filter type dropdown.
  4. Select the state or tax type you want to exclude from the Filter value dropdown.
  5. Click Save.
To delete a filter, click the Delete icon. Deleting a filter can't be undone, but you can add another filter with the same state or tax type to continue excluding that data.
