About Sovos Canonical Invoice
Sovos Canonical Invoice (SCI) is a format Sovos developed to specifically support global customers with their e-invoicing and reporting needs.
The main idea behind SCI is reducing the complexity and burden of mapping data into the required local format.
The SCI's core set of data is defined according to the UBL 2.1 standard, with minor adjustments to meet the CTC's global requirements with a single SCI schema. As it only needs to be extracted once, it can later be used for all currently supported countries. This also means that the real responsibility of mapping it to the local format lies with Sovos.
SCI is a living and evolving concept that Sovos continuously works on, adding support for new countries and territories or adapting the existing parts, as legislation is updated. Sovos adapts its SCI format to schema changes in all supported countries.
SCI standards
SCI relies on the following standards to help represent and map data:
- Standard Business Document (SBD)
- Standard Business Document Header (SBDH)
- Universal Business Language (UBL 2.1)
- Sovos Document schema
