About Fields Mapping

Use the Fields Mapping module to look up SCI field definitions, local legal paths, and compliance details by country, document type, and version.

The Fields Mapping module shows how SCI fields map to local legal requirements for each supported country. You can search, filter, and export field data directly from the portal without contacting a Sovos representative.

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Fields Mapping.

The Fields Mapping page opens with a filter bar at the top and a data table below it. The table remains empty until you select at least one country.

  2. In the filter bar, select at least one country, then refine your results using the remaining filters.

    The available filters are:

    • Country — Select one or more countries. Required to populate the table.

    • Doc Type — Select the document type (for example, e-invoice or credit note).

    • Version — Select the local format version.

Active filters appear as tags above the table. To remove all filters, click Clear all filters.

  3. Review the results in the data table.
The table displays the following columns:
    Country
The country associated with the field mapping.
    Doc Type
The document type, such as e-invoice or credit note.
    Local Version
The version of the local legal format.
    SCI Path
The field path in the SCI format.
    BT Code
The Business Term code from the applicable e-invoicing standard.
    Local Condition
Whether the field is mandatory or optional in the local format. Mandatory fields are highlighted.
    Local Path
The corresponding field path in the local legal format.
    Local Description
A description of the field in the local format.
    Data Type
The expected data type for the field.
    Data Sample
An example value for the field.
    Local Remark
Additional notes about the local requirement.

Results are paginated. Use the controls at the bottom of the page to move between pages.

  4. Optional: To narrow results to a specific field, type a value in any column filter box.

For example, type taxAmount in the SCI Path filter to return only fields that match that path. You can combine multiple column filters to narrow results further — for example, filtering by description to find all tax-related fields.

  5. Optional: To customize which columns are visible, click the Columns icon next to the search icon.

Select or clear individual columns, click Show/Hide All to toggle all columns at once, or click Reset to restore the default view.

  6. Optional: To export the current results, click Export in the top-right corner.

The export includes all data currently displayed, reflecting any active filters.

  7. Optional: To reload the latest data without clearing your filters, click Refresh.
  8. Optional: To open country setup guides in Sovos Docs, click See in Sovos Docs at the top of the page.

A popup opens with two tabs:

    • Selected — Shows documentation for the countries currently selected in your filters.

    • All Companies — Lists all supported countries alphabetically, each with a country setup guide.

Click Open next to a country to go to the Sovos Docs platform.
