Queries

Build, save, and run custom SQL queries against your connected Sovos data.

A query defines exactly what data to extract, filter, and analyze from your connected Sovos products, written in SQL. A saved query can be run on its own or used to build a report, and the query's structure determines the report layout. A single-statement query produces a basic table, while a reconciliation query using the #[MATCH] marker produces a cross-check. See the Query and reconciliation reference for more information.

Queries is an Enterprise capability, part of the analytical build surface. Organization Admins and Collaborators can view, create, edit, duplicate, delete, and run queries. Read-Only users don't have access to the Queries section. Queries are read-only by contract (statements that modify data or schema are rejected) and remain scoped to your companies by row-level security. Each saved query stores its name, description, and SQL, along with who created it and when. For the full role breakdown, see Roles and permissions.

Building queries on saved reports

The query builder's Database panel includes Report Semantic Models, which let you build a query on top of saved reports rather than raw sources.
