Learn how to correct and resubmit IRS-rejected forms to avoid financial penalties.
A form, or forms, can be rejected by the IRS for many reasons. Some of the most common errors are a blank TIN on 1099 forms or an invalid name/TIN combination on 1095 forms. Correct any errors promptly to avoid significant financial penalties.
Note:
Repeat the following process for all of the rejected forms in your order.
- Go to Order History.
- Click the Order Number of the forms you want to resubmit.
The rejected orders are labeled as Rejected in the Status column.
- Click the form you want to edit and resubmit.
This will take you to the Rejected Form page, where you can make the necessary changes.
- When you are ready to resubmit the form, click Fix Form and Resubmit.
- Click OK on the pop-up.
Note:
Clicking OK will resubmit the form to the IRS/SSA. Make sure your revision is complete before selecting this option.
Your form will be resubmitted to the IRS/SSA. You'll receive a confirmation email from the IRS/SSA when the resubmission has been accepted.
