Create a state, province, or county

Learn how to create a state, province, or county if it is not already in NetSuite Legacy Tax.

You must have the Administrator role.

When creating a nexus in the United States or Canada, you must select a state, province, or county from the list of jurisdictions. If the default list does not include the state, province, or county where you have nexus, you can create it in NetSuite Legacy Tax.

Go to Setup > Company > States/Provinces/Counties > New.
Select the country that this state, province, or county is located in from the Country dropdown.
Enter the name of the state, province, or county in the Full Name field, then enter an abbreviation in the Short Name field.
For example, to create the Canadian province of Manitoba, enter Manitoba in the Full Name field and MB in the Short Name field.
Click Save.
