The return status indicates where a return is in the filing process and whether you need to take action to file the return.

Not started

Sovos has received your data but return preparation has not started yet. The Managed Services team will begin preparing your return in time to meet the filing deadline.

Preparing return

Your preparer has started working on the return. The return will be available to review within 48 hours.

Ready to file

Your return has been prepared and is now ready for you to review. After you have reviewed the return, either approve it for filing or put it on hold.

Important:

Returns can't be changed after you approve them for filing.

Filing

Your preparer has started filing your return.

Filed

Your return has been submitted to the taxing authority. The Overview tab shows when and how the return was submitted.

Return on hold

Returns with this status will not be submitted to the taxing authority. The Managed Services team will work with you to make sure the return is correct before continuing the filing process.
