About the GetServiceInfo operation

The GetServiceInfo operation returns version and edition information about the TrustWeaver signing service.

The GetServiceInfo operation requires no request body and takes no input parameters. A successful response confirms that your connection, authentication and SOAP configuration are working correctly.

The request has no body. Send an empty soap:Body element:

CODE
<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
  <soap:Body />
</soap:Envelope>
Response

A successful response returns a GetServiceInfoResult element containing the following fields:

Element Type Description
Major integer Major version number of the service
Minor integer Minor version number of the service
Build integer Build number of the service
ProductEdition string Edition of the service, for example Enterprise

Example response:

  <Minor>11</Minor>
  <Build>832</Build>
  <ProductEdition>Enterprise</ProductEdition>
</GetServiceInfoResult>
SOAP faults
Fault code Description
Server General server error. Check your host address, certificate configuration, and network connectivity.

Verify your connection

Check that your application can communicate with TrustWeaver by calling the GetServiceInfo operation and checking the response.

Before confirming your connection , make sure that:

  • Your client certificate is installed and accessible to your application.

  • Your WSDL-generated client stubs are configured to use the SwitchServiceSoap port (SOAP 1.1).

  • Your application can reach the TrustWeaver host over HTTPS.

  1. Send a GetServiceInfo request to the TrustWeaver signing service endpoint.

    The request has no body. The soap:Body element is empty:

    CODE
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
      <soap:Body />
    </soap:Envelope>
  2. Confirm that the response contains a GetServiceInfoResult element with the following fields:
    Major
    An integer value defining the major version number of the service
    Minor
    An integer value defining the minor version number of the service
    Build
    An integer value defining the build number of the service
    ProductEdition
    Edition information of the service

    Example of a successful response:

    CODE
    <GetServiceInfoResult xmlns="http://www.trustweaver.com/tsswitch">
      <Major>1</Major>
      <Minor>11</Minor>
      <Build>832</Build>
      <ProductEdition>Enterprise</ProductEdition>
    </GetServiceInfoResult>
  3. If the response returns a soap:Fault element with fault code Server, check your host address, certificate configuration, and network connectivity.

A response containing Major, Minor, Build, and ProductEdition confirms that your client can authenticate and communicate with TrustWeaver. Note the version information returned. It identifies the service version you are connected to.

After confirming your connection, configure your application for the document operations described in the following sections.
